{"id":388,"date":"2014-06-25T16:18:39","date_gmt":"2014-06-25T15:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wearemap.wpengine.com\/?p=388"},"modified":"2017-01-26T12:53:11","modified_gmt":"2017-01-26T11:53:11","slug":"5-traits-35s-creative-agencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wearemap.co.uk\/clients\/blog\/5-traits-35s-creative-agencies\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Traits of the Under 35\u2019s in Creative Agencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you at the best age of your life?<\/p>\n<p>I say absolutely yes.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/money\/blog\/2012\/apr\/18\/is-35-best-age\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Guardian<\/span><\/a><\/span> article pinpointed the 35\u2019s as the best age for personal and professional goals.\u00a0 If you\u2019re still in the under 35 you\u2019re still winning \u2013 with enthusiasm and energy \u2013 but great news, by 35, this enthusiasm has a proven track record of success.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the 5 traits of under 35\u2019s, as we see it especially for creative agencies:<\/p>\n<h2>1. Confidence<\/h2>\n<p>Reaching the 30\u2019s brings along a bright number of personal successes: you know your friends, you can identify your strengths and weaknesses, and you have the energy to tackle both.\u00a0 You may have a home, and have great plans for fixing it just the way you like it.\u00a0 Your children (if you have them) are beginning their lives, and you want to capture each moment with them, and show them the values worth living for.\u00a0 You\u2019ve identified your passion in life, and are on the road to making it a profitable or fulfilling one.\u00a0 Adventure beckons, and your confidence is high.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Creative Drive<\/h2>\n<p>Because of the support in your personal life, you\u2019ve found the drive that fuels your small business, your creative endeavour, your need for <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/worlddominationsummit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">world domination<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span> You have the energy and enthusiasm that only youth brings, the drive to complete a goal, and you are pursuing it with all your might.<\/p>\n<h2>3. Willing to try anything<\/h2>\n<p>Your confidence and energy means you may find a new interest in photography, guitar playing, game design, painting, music, or brazenly putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) for that novel you always meant to write.\u00a0 You aren\u2019t adverse to picking up a new language or skydiving, or taking a new route home every day.\u00a0 Your appetite for learning sets you apart, as you\u2019re not intimidated by social media or creative solutions.<\/p>\n<h2>5. Collaboration over competition<\/h2>\n<p>Best of all, you know that your it\u2019s not about competing as much as it is collaborating \u2013 especially in the creative sphere.\u00a0 You have discovered that your contemporaries are actually your best assets:\u00a0 they push you to succeed, but the best approach for both (or all) of you is working together.\u00a0 Every contact, personal or professional, no matter the age, can provide you with energy and assistance along the way.\u00a0 One of the outcroppings of this is the fact that there are <span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.workspace.co.uk\/customer-types\/creative-spaces\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">workspaces<\/span><\/a><\/span> popping up all over where small businesses and one man bands can get that collaborative energy in a place of great creativity.<\/p>\n<h3>So, what does all this mean for your own creative agency?<\/h3>\n<p>As you pursue [fill in the blank for what you create], all that great creativity and collaboration, hunger, and support, can bring challenges.\u00a0 You run out of time. You spend more time managing administrative elements of your business than you do creating.<\/p>\n<p>Tracking expenses, documenting tax liabilities, keeping the proper documentation of the invoices and expenses can be overwhelming.\u00a0 A clear financial picture is essential for your success.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, getting an accountant sounds boring. Tedious. You can\u2019t think of someone who has the energy and enthusiasm you do \u2013 someone who\u2019s going to sit with you and produce cool-looking reports and understand what API is and help you put all your accounts in the cloud and chat with you on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>Well, not to fear.<\/p>\n<p>Because although your mental picture of an accountant may be a somewhat stodgy and dry individual with thick lenses and grim predictions of profit, a new trend in accountants is proving that wrong.<\/p>\n<p>(Wild cheering resounds.)<\/p>\n<h3>Accountants can be young and creative too.<\/h3>\n<p>Recently, Accountancy Age, a news source for current accountants, featured an article about young rising stars of finance and accountants, the<span style=\"color: #000080;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/m.accountancyage.com\/aa\/news\/2342991\/-aayp-2014-accountancy-ages-35-under-35\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">\u201c35 Under 35\u201d<\/span><\/a> <\/span>in which I was honored to be mentioned.<\/p>\n<p>As I reflected on my contemporaries, and on you as creative, I appreciated that here was a list of people (amongst whom I was honoured to be named) that carry the same dreams and passions and hunger and characteristics that you\u2019ve got.\u00a0 Which is all positive.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s put those amazing 5 traits to good work.\u00a0 Good creative work, and good accounting work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you at the best age of your life?
