Outsourcing Success Stories

By January 24th, 2017 No Comments

Are you struggling along in your creative agency with too many tasks and not enough time? Or perhaps you’re teaching yourself a new skill, putting in huge amounts of time and effort, and still not being satisfied with the end result?

Well, you know all about outsourcing from last week’s post, and you know that you could outsource the job from your agency to someone who’s an expert at it, and can deliver what you need perfectly in no time at all.

Is It Really That Simple?

Yes absolutely. If you’ve got too much to do and you’re finding it very hard to spend time on the things that matter, outsource some of the simple and mundane tasks! That way you’ll give yourself more freedom to do the things that are important in your creative agency. And if you fall in love with outsourcing, why not get experts in to handle absolutely everything for you, so you can enjoy yourself and make money without actually doing anything?

Does It Really Work?

Take Tim Ferris for example, author of the best-selling book, The 4 Hour Week. He popularised Elance because of his book and his new approach to work, outsourcing everything that he could in an effort to work just 4 hours a week. And he succeeded too, without a negative impact on his lifestyle. In fact, he actually ended up earning more money, by outsourcing tasks which he didn’t have to do. He successfully did whatever he wanted for a year, and came back to a healthy bank balance. What a life right?

Saving Money On Staff At The Advanced Child Academy

Then there’s the SME, The Advanced Child Academy. As a start up, their funds were extremely limited, and they could not afford the risk of hiring full time staff. Yet they had work that needed to be done. The risk was too high to invest in permanent staff, but by outsourcing, they were able to get the experts they needed without committing to any long term contracts. Using Elance, they had access to hundreds of expert freelancers who could get the job done, and were able to manage this virtual workforce easily and affordably, paying only for the time they required.

It meant that The Academy could get the work they needed doing, grow their business effectively, and identify the areas where they might need staff in the future. It made a huge difference to the success of their business.

We Outsourced What We Couldn’t Do

And don’t forget us! We didn’t know how to make an all singing all dancing animated video for ourselves. We’re accountants for goodness sake! We had a quick look at what was involved, and we knew that would take far too much of our time.  So we outsourced our whiteboard video production and hey presto! We much preferred relaxing over the weekend instead of pulling our hair trying to figure out how to make a simple video. Wouldn’t you?

Outsourcing Your Whole Job

Finally, there’s ‘Bob’, a high tech programmer at a US IT Firm. Bob used his skill and intelligence not to do computer programming, but to pay other people to do his work for him instead. Instead of writing code, Bob surfed the internet and relaxed at work, whilst he outsourced all of his work to China. And it worked so well, Bob became the top code writer in his company, with glowing reviews on his work.

Whilst he might not have been efficient with his spare time, Bob certainly shows that there are ways to get yourself more time to focus on the things that matter.
